ARCHIMEDE ENERGIA BATTERIES FOR THE EV-ITA PROJECT
“ELECTRIFYING THE BOAT IS ALREADY POSSIBLE”
“If it is good to continue with the conversion to electric in the world of cars, it is even more important to reduce pollution in the nautical sector. And the technology already exists ” – Maurizio Iori
Marzio Iori, COO Industrial of Eurogroup S.p.a., is the creator of the “Ev-Ita” project. The project has as its protagonist a gozzo with an innovative low voltage electric motor, and aims to change the slow navigation of seas and lakes. The intuition that underlies Ev-Ita starts from a problem that has been tried to solve but only in a small part: global pollution.
«We have noticed that we have no customers in the nautical world and that most of our products go to serve the electrical segment. The electric car is a solution that removes emissions in the cities where we live, but does not solve the global problem of pollution since one of the sectors that have the greatest impact in this sense is the nautical one. Not many people know that a container ship pollutes as much as 50 million cars ”.
Eurogroup is a leading player in the world in the production of components, such as stators and rotors, for electric motors. To date, there are few examples in the nautical sector that have followed in the footsteps of the automobile, proposing hybrid or full electric systems with high voltage. Eurogroup, thanks to special materials and innovative production processes, were able to take up the challenge and supply a pack of stator and rotor laminations to have Ev-ita produce a very powerful motor, but in low voltage, of 51.8 Volts. With this voltage an engine can power a boat up to 15 meters in length, so we will have to focus on smaller and smaller speed boats, such as pleasure boats used by fishermen or for tourism trips, which in any case constitute the largest percentage. high of pleasure boating.
ARCHIMEDE BATTERIES FOR EV-ITA
Archimede Energia joins the EV-ITA project by finding the ideal solution for goiter in terms of weight, duration and performance. Three 200Ah battery packs were used
- Capacity 600Ah q
- Max continuous power = 40kW (peak 60kW for 10 sec)
- Max beam 3.00 m. q
- Autonomy: 4 hours + 2 hours with photovoltaic panels
“We have a duty to protect our marine areas and evolve towards more sustainable propulsion systems. We have to start acting in our own small way, locally ».
